The
Cold Within by : Author Unknown Six humans trapped by happenstance In
black and bitter cold. Each one possessed a stick of wood, Or so the story's
told. Their dying fire in need of logs, The first woman held hers back For
on the faces around the fire, She noticed one was black. The next man looking
cross the way Saw one not of his church, And couldn't bring himself to give The
fire his stick of birch. The third man sat in tattered clothes; He gave
his coat a hitch. Why should his log be put to use To warm the idle rich? The
rich man just sat back and thought Of the wealth he had in store. And how
to keep what he had earned From the lazy poor. The black man's face bespoke
revenge As the fire passed from his sight, For all he saw in his stick of
wood Was a chance to spite the white. And the last man of this forlorn group Did
naught except for gain. Giving only to those who gave Was how he played
the game. The logs held tight in death's still hands Was proof of human
sin. They didn't die from the cold without, They died from the cold within.

THOUGHT
for YOUR MONTH Ten Commandments of Human Relations By Author Unknown
1. Speak to People. There is nothing as nice as a cheerful word of greeting.
2. Smile at People. It takes 72 muscles to frown, but only 14 to smile!
3.. Call People by Name. The sweetest music to anyone's ear is the sound
of his or her own name. 4. Be Friendly and Helpful. If you would have
friends, be friendly. 5. Be Cordial. Speak and act as if everything
you do were a real pleasure. 6. Be Genuinely Interested in People. You
can like everyone if you try. 7. Be Generous with Praise, Cautious with
Criticism. Praise will win out when it comes to gaining friends. 8.
Be Considerate of the Feelings of Others. It will be appreciated. 9.
Be Thoughtful of the Opinions of Others. People love their opinions as they
do their own children, calling them ugly won't get you anything but anger.
10. Be Alert to Give Service. What counts most in life is what we do for
others!
